How do I find the right provider?
Finding the Right Provider
On Helpful Folks, there are two ways to find a suitable provider: you can post a job and receive applications, or you can actively browse provider profiles.
Option 1: Post a Job
The most effective approach is to create a job posting. Describe exactly what you need:
- Type of service: e.g., childcare, household help
- Duration and frequency: one-time, weekly, regular
- Location: Which city or neighborhood is the help needed in?
- Special requirements: e.g., experience with toddlers, driver's license
Once your job is published, matching providers can apply. You'll receive a notification for each new application.
Option 2: Browse Profiles
Alternatively, you can use the search function to browse provider profiles. Filter by:
- Service category
- Location and radius
- Availability
- Reviews and badges
What Should I Look For?
Profile Completeness
A complete profile with a photo, description, and qualifications is a good sign of a dedicated provider.
Verification Status
Pay attention to the verification badges on the profile. They show you which checks a provider has completed: profile photo check, ID verification, address verification, and optionally liability insurance.
Reviews
After every completed booking, both sides can leave a review. Reviews from other customers give you an honest insight into what the collaboration is like.
Response Rate
The response rate shows you how reliably a provider responds to messages. Green means very reliable, yellow means mostly reachable, red means rather unreliable.
The Next Step: Video Call
When a profile looks promising, the next step is a personal introductory video call. This lets both of you get a better sense of each other before making a booking.
