Helpful Folks

What is Helpful Folks and how does it work?

In a Nutshell

Helpful Folks is a platform that connects people who need everyday help with people who provide exactly that help. Whether you're looking for childcare, elderly care, household assistance, tutoring, or other personal services — Helpful Folks helps you find the right support nearby.

How Does the Platform Work?

Helpful Folks works in a few simple steps:

1. Sign Up

Create a free account as a customer or as a service provider. You can register with your email address and complete your profile afterwards.

2. Post a Job or Create a Profile

As a customer, you describe the help you need — for example, regular afternoon childcare or a one-time moving assistance. As a provider, you create a detailed profile with your qualifications, experience, and availability.

3. Find the Right Match

Providers can apply to posted jobs. Customers receive applications and can compare profiles and verification status.

4. Meet or Book Directly

Depending on the service category, there are two paths: For sensitive services like childcare, a personal introductory video call takes place before booking. For everyday help and knowledge services, you can also book directly — or optionally have a conversation first.

5. Work Together

Once everything fits, you book the provider directly through the platform. After completed bookings, both sides can leave a review.

What Makes Helpful Folks Special?

  • No agency model: You book directly, without an agency acting as middleman.
  • No commission: Helpful Folks does not take any commission on payments between customers and providers.
  • Three Trust Circles: A tiered verification system — the more sensitive the service, the more thorough the verification.
  • Visible reliability: The response rate shows you how reliably a provider communicates.
  • Review system: After every completed booking, both sides can leave a review.
