The Review System

The Review System in Detail

The review system on Helpful Folks is designed to create transparency and fairness. It helps customers make informed decisions and gives providers the opportunity to build their reputation.

How Does the System Work?

Two-Way Reviews

After a completed booking, both sides can leave a review -- the customer reviews the provider, and the provider reviews the customer. This creates fairness and accountability on both sides.

Star Rating

The foundation is a 5-star scale. Each review consists of an overall rating and an optional comment.

Average Rating

A provider's profile displays the average of all received ratings. This is updated with every new review.

Reviews Are Final

Once submitted, reviews cannot be edited or withdrawn. This ensures that reviews remain authentic and trustworthy. Take your time when writing a review to make sure it accurately reflects your experience.

Quality Assurance

We employ various measures to ensure review quality:

Verified Reviews

Only users who actually had a completed booking together can leave a review. This prevents fake reviews.

Moderation

Reviews are checked for inappropriate content. Insults, discrimination, or factually incorrect claims are removed.

Right to Respond

Providers can reply to reviews and file a dispute for demonstrably false reviews.

Reviews and Rankings

Reviews influence placement in search results:

  • Higher-rated providers appear further up.
  • The number of reviews also plays a role.
  • Recent reviews carry more weight than older ones.

Reviews and Badges

Consistently high ratings combined with strong reliability can contribute to earning the Top Provider badge, which signals sustained excellence to customers.

Fairness in the System

The system is designed so that individual negative reviews don't disproportionately affect the overall picture. The more reviews a provider has, the more stable their average rating becomes.
